Making Legal Decisions for the Benefit of Children

Child Protective Services (CPS) in Texas is responsible for investigating charges of neglect, exploitation, or abuse of children. When families split up, the courts make decisions that affect the well-being of the children involved.

These decisions can include education issues, health and medical care, religious upbringing, custody, and support payments.

Show Cause Cases

Divorce agreements are legally binding for both parties. Should one fail to comply with the agreement in terms of custody or child or spousal support payments, he or she may be deemed in contempt of court. Before a person can be punished for being in contempt, they must be served with a rule to show cause, summoning them to court to explain the matter.

Our attorney is ready and able to provide you with personal legal counsel in such a case. A lot is riding on it. Besides protecting your child, serious penalties could be issued to the offender if proven to be in contempt.

What Constitutes a Show Cause Case?

  • Custodial parents dishonor visitation agreements
  • Failing to provide health insurance for a child
  • Former spouse dishonors alimony agreements
  • Non-custodial parent is delinquent with child support
